Hope you have a great birthday Alayne.
Steve and I were friends since junior high school, we lived only four houses away from each other, across the street from Herbert Slater Junior High. We would play basketball after school, which he would beat me at on a fairly regular basis. Steve was also very good at bowling, I believe his grandmother owned the bowling alley on Montgomery Avenue, so he was probably at a semi pro level at one time. Steve was also into cars, big time, which was good for me too, because I got to ride with him to school a couple of times each week. His first cool car was a burgundy hotrod 1940 Ford sedan with the custom 59 T-Bird as its replacement, which is the car in the year book. Steve worked at LADS market for many years after high school, we would talk any time I saw him there, and by this time he owned a 1969 Shelby 500 convertible. The best thing about Steve was that he was a genuine kind person, the type of person you would want as a friend.
Sue was a good friend, always had a smile, and something fun to talk about. She had a great sense of humor and was always enjoyable to have a conversation with. I went to her "After the Prom Party" and then did not see her again till the ten year reunion, and found out that she had lived in Hollywood at the same time I had lived there. We lived only about half a mile apart and never knew the other one was there, but that was the way things were back then without the internet. We kept in touch over the years on ClassMates.com and I was hoping to see her at the 50th reunion, but it was not to be, I had heard from her sister that she had passed away.

In retrospect, it is strange what we pass up at times in our lives. It's no surprise you stayed true to your interests and talents... art and cars !! I remember that copper coloured pontiac (think it was a pontiac) you painted and worked on when we were 16.. sure don't know where all those years have gone!
Friends of mine had an opportunity to invest in a new coffee house called "Starbucks" 20-30 some years ago and decided not to... they would have been millionaires now!!
hope to see you at the next reunion, which I intend to attend !
hugs... Diana
